The neighbourhood
Its not suprising that Icelanders name most main streets in the citys they visit Laugavegur. There is a Laugavegur in Italy, Mallorca and the Canary Islands. And in Reykjavik city center, Laugavegur is the center. From here its a short distance to shopping, Bónus Supermarket next door, pubs and fitness centers, not to mention an indoor swimming pool only a five minute walk away.

On the one end of Laugavegur we have Hlemmur and on the other end Lækjartorg witch both have bus stations were you can catch a bus to anyware in the city. From Lækjartorg its a short walk to the pond and the harbor. A brisk walk or bus ride from Hlemmur is Laugardalur park with the biggest swimming pool in Reykjavík and also biggest fitness centers in Europe. Also in Laugardalur there is for all the family the local zoo.

When you stay on Laugarveg in Reykjavik city center you dont need a car. But if you would like to have a car at hand it is a short walk to a car park. Also you can park on Laugavegur for no charge after 18.00 until 10.00 in the morning.
